Operation Smile Asuncion, Paraguay!

This mother had just found out her daughter would be able to receive surgery for her cleft palate. She had tears in her eyes and I saw her happiness. Yet, the little girl…was not so happy looking! Love it!
I loved this little boy, he has a unilateral incomplete cleft lip. He was unable to be repaired while we were there because he had bronchiolitis and received nebulizer treatments each day in hopes he'd improve. He'll come back in March for surgery, yet his dad was able to have surgery to repair his cleft lip!
This little guy has a complete unilateral cleft lip. Notice how it extended into the nose, the difference between a complete and incomplete cleft lip.
Oh sweet is he?!?
I loved him! His parents were so sweet!
Charting :)
We told this mom she should be a nurse! She came so prepared and told us "I am a good mom"!

St. George Marathon 2013 Finisher!!

I ran the St. George Marathon...again, this past weekend. This makes number four for me! Crazy, I know right. Yet my whole family ran this year (except Neal who is in Argentina on his mission). My dad ran his 20th St. George Marathon this year and we joined with him to celebrate. I ran with my friend, co-worker, and fellow race runner Amber Sherwood. This is the route ahead of us as we are coming into mile 15, Snow Canyon. My favorite part of the course.
We took a "ladies" photo after the race! Em finished in 3:56, me 4:51, mom 5:25, and La 4:17. I was so excited when I found out I had the potential to come in under 5 hours. I pushed through the last 3 miles, despite the ball of my left foot killing me. It felt like I was running on the bone itself, no cushion. I think I need orthotics or something for that foot. Anyways, it was an amazing run otherwise and I have had the greatest recovery out of all the races I've done. Maybe training within a month time isn't bad after all! Amber and I pushed to finish with a PR of 4:51:08!!
Me with my amazing sandstone medal!!
Siblings! We were missing Neal :(
