CLS 5K Fun Run 2010!

Amanda McCollough, Jessica Foster, and I ran the Christ Lutheran School 5K Saturday morning, Sept 25th in Murray. Honestly I had just worked a night shift, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Don't worry, I will never do it again, but I have now done something not many people can say! At the beginning it was interesting to make myself put one foot in front of another, but I made it! I ran it in 27:45. Amanda took 3rd place in women overall so she was awarded the sweet trophy! I took 4th place in women overall, but 1st place in our age category. Jessica took 2nd place in our age category! Way to go us! Good memories!

My new place!

Welcome to my new home! I live near Sugarhouse, which is such a fun place to be! It's so full of life, bikers, runners, access to the freeway, Park City is within 15-20 minutes, and downtown is just a run away. No really, I've ran down there 3 times for my long distance runs. Temple Square and back is just about 15 miles! The house is shaped like a little box and the brick is painted a weird sea green color. Why would someone paint the brick that color? I dislike it, but the inside is so worth it! I live with 3 other roommates, one is Lindsay who lived in Turnberry with me, and the other 2 are from her ward. So with 3 in one ward and me the odd one out, I recently switched wards, so now we're all together!

This is the massive tree in front of the house...personally, I think it needs to be trimmed, but that's just me! You can't walk up the path to the front door without ducking, but I am tall!

These are the lovely vines that drape the fence on the side of the driveway where Lindsay and I hide our keys in the vines when we go on our runs. Don't come looking for them now! :)

The ghetto garage that doesn't lock, with beautiful vines covering most of the door anyways! The side door doesn't shut all the way! Awesome!

This is the view walking out of my room! I put up the vinal lettering "Live Laugh Love" last weekend. I love it! It adds just a bit of flair to the room! Pictures of my new bedspread and queen bed will come once my duvet comes in!

My shelf above my bookcase! Everyone asks who the cute baby is and sadly no he's not related or even a pseudo nephew! He's a patient I had about a year ago! His mom was adorable and printed off 5 or so shots of him and gave me them to keep! I keep the picture out to remind me how much I love my job!
My bookcase is packed, I know, a bunch of old nursing books I swear I'd look at again, but haven't. My favorite dvds, Harry Potter and Twilight series (naturally!), and all my fun games!

This is my new dresser, sorry you can only see the top and the mirror, but I've also hung my magnet frame on the wall by it. It's a fun compilation of everything I've done. Notice the St. George Marathon medal on the right side from 4 years ago, now it's in a week and a half, ahhh!

This is the front room! Sorry I didn't take a picture of the other wall and couch, but imagine! The awesome colorful chair is Lindsay's, and if you asked her why it's famous, she'd laugh and tell ya! I can't remember, but it's known in her family!

The beautiful kitchen, I loved the granite table top and backsplash from the moment we first saw the house. The appliances are all new, love it!

Part B of the kitchen, I love the tower my roommate bought, it is way cute!

And this is the cute table and stools I bought from Hobby Lobby! The stools were a pain to put together, but thanks to my dad, they are all assembled now! Thanks Dad!

Now we are in the downstairs living room! Notice the couch, coffee table, and reclining chair, yup they all came with me. The only things in this room I even paid for is the IKEA coffee table and lamp! I seriously won't feel bad to part with these things some day, but the couch is seriously comfortable, if you haven't sat on it, give it a try someday!

The walls are a little bare, we are still trying to hang up art work and stuff, but I will have my piano stand here soon for the keyboard as well as a piano stool. I can't wait to sit at it and play to my hearts desire! Welcome to my home!

Farewell to Gil!

I came home today and noticed Gil not moving very much, well...not at all! I quickly turned the bowl a little, which usually moves him since he loved to hide, but no movement. Oh no, so I quickly called my mom and told her my prediction. I then put a little food in, which also usually perks him up from his hiding spot and makes him come up to eat, but that didn't move him either. My prediction was right...Gil was dead! Sad! :(

For those of you who don't remember, I inherited Gil from my brother after a high school girl used him to ask Neal out to a dance a year ago. I had Gil for exactly a year! I fished him out of his bowl, prepared a nice spot outside, buried him, and gave a small eulogy! He was such a good fish, whenever I was down or needed someone to just hear me out (which he was very good at) he was there!
What I loved most about Gil was his bright red color with purple highlights down his tail. I loved how when he moved, his tail would whip around in the water. Gil you will be missed!

Operation Smile!

I certified in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) this past week and today I submitted my application to apply for missions with Operation Smile! Yeah! My application is pending approval, not sure how long it will take, but hopefully I'll hear from them soon! I've always wanted to be a part of this great organization and travel the world providing this great service. I hope to find out soon and then sign up for a mission. Details to come...but I am so excited that I have something to look forward to and progress with in my career and in life.

Oh so cute! This is the age I work with at Primary Children's and I take care of a lot of post op cleft lip and palate babies so I can't wait to see other kids in other countries take their first smile after surgery.
This guy has got his smile down...watch out ladies!

Help me choose a duvet!

Help me choose a duvet...this one is the Waterfall Ruffle duvet. I love the ruffled layers, but I have been wanting a duvet or bedspread that has color to it, hence why I like the Woodland Garden one. Please give me your vote!

I loved...The Lion King!

September 2nd, Emily and I at the Capitol Theatre to see "The Lion King"! I saw it last summer on Broadway, but neither my parents or Emily had seen it yet. I think I was more excited for them than they were! :)
This is one of my favorite parts of the show! Rafiki comes out and introduces "The Circle of Life" by singing "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba" x3! Her voice is so powerful and it gave me chills, plus just knowing what was to come, I was estatic to be there!

I love my job!

I was blown kisses at work for the past two days...not many people can say that about their jobs without it being creepy! I had the cutest, and I mean, cutest 19 month old, red haired little boy that gave me knuckles, danced, and sweet kisses!
