A few days away from life...in Park City!

My parents have a timeshare through Marriott and they had the week up in Park City (June 17-23) so I decided to take a break and join them for a few days! It's so pretty and even though Park City is only a 20 minute drive up the canyon from Salt Lake, the atmosphere gives off the vibe that you're out of the state!
We went on a hike Monday afternoon and got a good look at downtown Park City from the view of Park City Ski Resort! We really wanted to ride the chair lift but $11 one way or $20 the whole day, ya right! We'll hike...thank you!
My parents 33 year post engagement feet picture! Everyone's enagement pictures these days has a picture of their feet so I decided to be creative! My mom loves this picture! Next I need to get her in some killer red heels and put some sleek black shoes on my dad! Now that would be a sweet!
I had to join in on the fun! Show I was on this hike!
My mom and dad looking out over the Park City valley!
My dad has a nich for making most anything with wood, and he's really good! But in this case, he found some random branches lying around and decided to make an archway above the trail! Love him!
Olympic Park! It's been 10 years and I just came for my very first time! Sad, I know, but it was fun! We watched 5-12 year olds ski off the far right jump and into the pool. They would pump air into the pool from the bottom to make the landing softer. We all sat on the grass and enjoyed watching them.
I snowboard but never skiied! Great picture huh!
Mom holding the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games torch!
This beautiful white barn is a landmark of Park City! Dad pulled over and I took a few pictures of the barn so he could watercolor it. He is really good at everything and he especially loves to watercolor!

Chalk Art Festival 2012

Chalk the Streets! I came to this festival at the Gateway mall in Downtown Salt Lake City 2 years ago and loved it! It's amazing, the talent that other people have! The drawings literally could pop right off the pavement! This year, I decided to volunteer. Lately I have felt my free time should go to other means and so I have thrown a few volunteer applications out there, including this one. My shift was 2-6pm and I manned the chalk swap station. Artists would compare colors of chalk to continue their art. I also had to fend off people from the water jug, which was just for the artists. Shoppers did not come prepared for the heat!
The Chalk Art Festival benefited the Foster Care Foundation of Utah. The festival brought in professional artists, one drew this Iron Man! Incredible!
Captain Jack Sparrow was in the amature section, yet...it's professional! Many people commented he almost popped out of the drawing.
This one was cute, it says "We're not Superheroes, foster parents are!"
Megamind, big and blue!
Dr. Suess! "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not."
I found this one amazing, different than all the others! I love how they made it look like the paint dripped and yet it's a chalk art. Awesome!
Spiderman! This festival is amazing! I will mark this on my calendar next year and either volunteer or maybe I will be good enough to enter!

I played dirty in...The Dirty Dash!

The Utah Spring Dirty Dash was held at Soldier Hollow this year on June 2, 2012. With about 5,000 participants and a sold out race, it was the place to be! I had always wanted to run this dirty race but always forgot about it. I made sure I didn't miss it this year and recruited a group of nurses from the hospital to run it with me! I didn't want to skip any obstacle, so I guess you could say I'm a true "dirty dasher"! The course is 5.5 miles, yet I didn't think I would be so sore afterwards! If it was just 5.5 miles, sure, no problem! But all the obstacles has me still icing my bruised, scraped up body!
The obstacle course...walls, haystacks, tubes, tires, slip and slide, muddy pools, and monkey bars! The ultimate cross country course!
Before...Me, Lindsi Barber, Amber Sherwood, and Alison Kohutek
After! A different shirt...no!
The pile of donated, muddy shoes post race!
My muddy, donated shoes! All donated shoes go to the Road Home, homeless shelter in Salt Lake City.
The freezing cold, mountain snow runoff showers...but they were FREE! Did I mention...FREEZING!
Soldier Hollow! The slip and slide can be spotted in the top right corner of the picture. It was my favorite obstacle! I caught speed going down and the girl in front of me had to move over so I didn't run into her! Thank you! I was heading face first so I quickly flipped around to land in the mud on my butt!
Water/Food station. Muddy, post race runners!
There were little mud streams everywhere. All the little kids put their clean shirts to use! I'm sure their parents were so pleased! ;)
Finish line! This group is jumping up and down in the mud in celebration!
The final mud pools right before the finish line! I caught a girl in the air in her jump into the pool!
I need to find out where they got their random shark hats! My friends and I are going to have eye turning get up this September!
Muddy pyramid celebration!
